Season's Greeting from Singapore
These are Christmas decorations outside Marche restaurant at Vivocity. We had a lovely christmas eve Sketchwalk. This piece is also used as gift exchange amongst the Singapore sketchers.
Night sketch @ Geylang
This is my warm-up sketch at Geylang. I went with 2 other fellow sketchers and we sat at a coffeeshop opposite lorong 19 (= Lane 19). Geylang is Singapore's red light district and probably equivalent to King's Cross. Lots of old shophouses here. Sketching at night is very challenging yet fun. The challenge is always how to keep sketch from looking like its done in the day. More practice required.

Short getaway to UBUD, Bali
I just returned from a short 5 days getaway to Ubud, Bali. This is my 6th time to bali and still loving it. It is just awesome to be surrounded by nature and lush gardens, great way to unwind. I must make special mention of the food in Ubud. Not only was it inexpensive, the food and desserts were very well prepared and cooked. Hence all that feasting and very easy to have more than 5 meals a day. You can see more of my sketches here.

Final sketch with watercolour of a nice corner coffeeshop along Neil Road.
A quick warm-up sketch at 2nd location.
We had our official USK-Sg sketchwalk today and we went back to explore Duxton Hill. Took the group around the fringe of Duxton, walking down Neil road and followed by Craig road before heading back to URA through Duxton Hill.

Urbansketchers Singapore - Book Launch & Exhibition 21-09-2011
We had a blast at our recently book launch and exhibition opening at Urban Redevelopment Authority. Our friends, colleagues and fellow sketchers came out in full force to support us. The excitement and energy was palpable. We are also very happy that the book we put together was very well received. I think we sold close to 500 copies on the launch day. Now I can sit back and enjoy the fruits of our hardwork.

Sketching Chinatown
Warm up sketch at Smith Street.
Mosque Street @ Chinatown by PaulArtSG, on Flickr">
It has been a busy but exciting week preparing for our upcoming book launch and exhibition which opens this Friday in Singapore. We are really excited about our new book which documents Urban streetscapes in Singapore. Yesterday I managed to find sometime to sketch near our exhibtion venue. This street has an old indian-inspired mosque and at the fringe of our chinatown. You can almost see one of the minaret peeking out on the left. The sun was setting, the green walls and orange roofs were gorgeous and just had to capture it. The splashing and dabbing was a nice way to end the busy day.
