30th World Sketchwalk, Hong Kong
Below are sketches by Gary Yeung & Me
Today was our very 1st successful urbansketchers' sketchwalk here in HK and we were also glad to be sketching with everyone around the world on this World sketch day. We had 7 very excited sketchers gathering at the HK university east gate. We ploughed through a very old estate, looking at some very early walkup apartments and back alley. I was told the streets (Water street, eastern street, western street...) here are also one of the earliest roads to be named. Weather was cloudy and rather chilly but we had a good time sketching and getting to know each other.

MongKong market @ night, HK
MongKong market @ night, HK
This was a night sketch I did in a hurry and I had to add the colours this morning from memory. This is the impression of the very interesting night market that got stuck in mind.
Tai Yuen St, HK
2nd sketch of 2011. Took me quite a long time to get back into the sketching groove. Hands and eyes were moving very slowly, sometimes even unsure. I always find that when I stop sketching for too long, it will always take a quite sometime to warm up and pick from where I last left off. So sketching is definitely something we have to keep practising in order to stay fresh.
I started right downstairs from where I am currently staying. Plenty of Chinese new year decoration up for sale everywhere now.
