Lotus @ Waterloo Street
My still life experiment based on a sketch I did on location last week at Waterloo Street. The lotus flowers being sold near the famous waterloo street temple were gorgeous. Pink and blushing quietly whilst being wrapped by huge lotus leaves.
This is the on-location sketch of the lotus flowers.

Sketching Toa Payoh
Do you remember playing at this playground?
This is 1 of the last 3 remaining dragon playgrounds left in Singapore. You can find this playground at Block 28 Lorong 6 Toa Payoh. This playground must be at least 35years old now. It is wonderful to see it again. I even had a good at the slides. Newer gadgety playgrounds have replaced such simple and elegant play space. Such fond memory of trying to play 'make-believe' at these playgrounds. I hope they will keep this playground for as long as possible.

My family kitchen sink
Meditation from my family kitchen
I have not drawn or painted for days and decided that I will do something simple today. Hands get rusty when I put off drawing for too long. My family kitchen never fails to inspire and found the perfect spot at the sink. My mother keeps the kitchen in tip-top condition just in case you are wondering why is my kitchen wall so dirty. My watercolour might have given the wall a slightly grime and dirty impression. That circular thingy on the left is our very well used wooden chopping board.

USK January Sketchwalk to National Museum of Singapore
Last saturday was our official sketchwalk for January and we held it at our National Museum. The sketchwalk also coincided with the closing of a special exhibition called "Dreams & Reality" by Musee D'Orsay. It is a small travelling exhibition featuring some famous artists like Van Gogh. Monet & Renoir. I finally got to see Van Gogh's famous Starry Night up close. Photographs here were taken by Parka one of our fellow sketchers.
