Two weeks ago, I returned back to Ubud to find a piece of quiet. It is about 2.5hours by plane from Singapore and one of my favourite getaway. If you have read 'Eat, Pray, Love' by Elizabeth Gilbert, you will surely remember her last destination. She gave a fairly accurate desscription of Bali and why it is so captivating. This is indeed a place to eat, pray and love. People are warm and the place is simply magical. Here is a selection of my eating, sketching and relaxing during my 5 days in Ubud.
One of the many small balinese temples scattered all over Ubud town.
This is part of the popular Jalan Hanuman street at Ubud town. I sketched this from my hotel restaurant which is just across the road. Lots of shops selling art and craft to passing tourists.
I must not forget to mention all the wonderful indonesian food that I have been eating in Bali. The fried rice (Nasi Goreng) is extra yummy. This was the view from Down to Earth Vegetarian cafe. I was looking down at all the different roofs from the cafe and wanted to express the juxtaposition as layers of shapes overlapping each other.

From Barcelona to GRANADA to SEVILLE & MADRID
My long over due post about what we the Asian team did after the Barcelona Symposium. Being one of the youngest member of the 5 member team, I was given the tour guide and holiday planner role to play. Our adventure started with an 11hour overnight train ride down to Granada to visit the magnificent Alhambra. I was blow away by the size, grandeur and craftsmanship of this spanish jewel.
You can see TIA & Pramote hiding under shade while waiting for our turn to enter the Nasrid Palaces at Alhmabra. The mid day heat was really a killer. You do need a siesta to stay sane. We also had the good fortune of meeting and sketching with Inma and the Seville sketchers during our 2 day visit to Seville. Very hospitable bunch. I sketched Santa Ana church (right) as quickly as I could before the daylight went out.
Famous bullring in Seville.
Our wonderful spanish holiday ended with a sketching session organised by the Madrid sketchers.

I am just starting to sort out my photographs and slowly scanning my sketches. It is going to take a while i think so stay tuned. Posting the first two scanned sketches here.

Sketching at ClubStreet
bought myself a nice iced coffee and sat at SHOTS cafe at Club street sketching away. A young man who works at the cafe was so nice that he offered me a second coffee free of charge after looking at my sketch. I will definitely come back for another sketch. — at Shots Café
