1st sketch of 2011

My 1st sketch of 2011 at the Singapore Changi airport. I was having a yummy bowl of prawn noodle at one of the airport restaurant while waiting for my flight back to Hong Kong.

Waraku 'My Curry' Restaurant, Singapore

I did a quick sketch at this interesting Japanese restaurant which serves many many types of curries. The interior was full of kitchen utensils and cooking equipment. The colour and washes were added after I got home.

Roast Duck stall @ Sims Drive Market

I sat next to this food stall that sells chicken/duck/roast pork during lunch time. The colours and messiness of the stall intrigued me so hence the sketch.

Teh Tarik stall @ Sims Drive market

Teh Tarik = (literally pulled tea or 拉茶 in Mandarin) is a hot tea beverage which can be commonly found in restaurants, outdoor stalls and kopi tiams in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei. Its name is derived from the pouring process of "pulling" the drink back and forth during preparation. It is made from black tea and condensed milk.

TWG tea company @ ION, Singapore

 

It was an interesting experience to have tea at TWG tea company. I did not know that they are actually a Singapore company with a rich history. They claim to have nearly 800 different types of tea from around the world. There were indeed lots of colourful tea containers in the shop.

Thye Hong fried hokkien prawn noodle @ Wisma

 

This has to be one of my favourite fried hokkien mee in Singapore. There is always a long queue at the stall but worth the wait. The noodles come served on this boat like container made out of some kind of dried leave. The sambal chilli is a wonderful companion for this flavourful dish. Must try!
