Sketching at Tiong Bahru with Liz Steel
I was really excited when Liz said she wanted to spend 2 weeks in Singapore over christmas and new year. She first time in Asia and we were thrilled to have her sketch along side Urbansketchers from Singapore. Our very first ad-hoc sketchwalk with Liz was held at Tiong Bahru. TIA kindly organised this morning sketchwalk and invited everyone to join in.
My warm-up sketch at Tiong Bahru
My 2nd sketch with Liz. We hid ourselves next to a substation and sketched the rear of old walk-up apartments.

Tiong Bahru Revisited Exhibition @ WhiteCanvas Gallery
This is a collection of works I am currently preparing for my upcoming exhibition which opens on the 1st July. Due to my limited time in Singapore (Easter cum school holiday), I have been making daily trips to Tiong Bahru to draw and sketch on location. I am kind of intoxicated now with the estate. A good thing though. I have a new understanding of this charming place. Now I can stand back and see a distinct 3 phases of recording through my sketches. Started with the routine sketches to collaging found objects at the site to sketching the future of this place. A-ha.... i see it now...Stay tuned for more to come....

Final Sketch walk at Tiong Bahru, 17th July 2010

Last Saturday was indeed a very exciting and happy occasion. We wanted this community sketchwalk to close our 3 week long exhibition at Whitecanvas gallery. We were very surprised by the throngs of eager sketchers who turned up to join TIA, Don, Miel and me. Young and old all came prepared to capture a piece of Tiong bahru. It is indeed phenomenal. We hope to see many such events to come! 8-)
