2013's 1st USK-Sg sketchwalk

1st sketchwalk of 2013 and we went to Wessex estate @ Portsdown road. It was nice to see everyone putting their best effort despite the heat and mosquitoes.

Sketching at Tiong Bahru with Liz Steel

I was really excited when Liz said she wanted to spend 2 weeks in Singapore over christmas and new year. She first time in Asia and we were thrilled to have her sketch along side Urbansketchers from Singapore. Our very first ad-hoc sketchwalk with Liz was held at Tiong Bahru. TIA kindly organised this morning sketchwalk and invited everyone to join in. My warm-up sketch at Tiong Bahru My 2nd sketch with Liz. We hid ourselves next to a substation and sketched the rear of old walk-up apartments.

Sketchwalk @ The Intan

Singapore Urbansketchers organised a wonderful sketchwalk to a beauitful peranakan museum today. The museum is delicated to the history and culture of straits born chinese. You can visit The Intan's website to learn more about the Peranakan culture.

Duxton Hill Sketchwalk 29-10-2011

We had our official USK-Sg sketchwalk today and we went back to explore Duxton Hill. Took the group around the fringe of Duxton, walking down Neil road and followed by Craig road before heading back to URA through Duxton Hill.

Panoramic Challenge @ Club Street Sketchwalk, 24-Sept-2011

Last Saturday was our official USK-Singapore sketchwalk and the location was Club Street. It was really wonderful to see so many sketchers who came despite the scorching heat. I created a panoramic sketch challenge to help sketchers experience what it means to "support each other and draw together". Several teams of 2-4 sketchers were formed and each received a 1metre long japanese album styled watercolour paper for their creation. The results were really amazing and we witnessed supportative teamwork and how many ideas flowed seamlessly into one grand panorama. These panoramas will also form part of our book launch cum exhibition next month in Singapore. Big applause for all their sweat & hardwork!

August Sketchwalk @ Geylang Serai, 27th Aug 2011

Despite the rain and the presidential voting, about 35 of us turn up to sketch the soon to be demolished Malay Village at Geylang Serai. We also sketched the very festive bazaar near the new Geylang Serai Market before settling down for lunch. Thank you everyone for turning up and for the amazing job you did on Saturday!

I managed 4 quick thumbnail sketches despite having to answer my phone several times to give help to stranded sketchers. The terrible humidity that came after the rain did not help too.

Series of quick 10-15mins thumbnail sketches. Good way to warm up and sense the place.

Malay Village @ Geylang Serai. This final watercolour piece was based on the final thumbnail sketch I did. Really glad to find old rustic buildings here and complete with banana trees and a small sampan.

HK Sketchwalk 12/03/2011 @ Central

Last Saturday we had a small sketchwalk around Central/Soho area. Gary, Perry & I were obviously overwhelmed by the crazy Saturday crowd. Despite many tourists & locals constantly looking over our shoulder we had a good time chatting and drawing together.
